How much does a house renovation cost in the Algarve?
Renovation costs in Portugal vary depending on the condition of the property, the scope of work and the finish level. As a rough guide, budget renovation work starts from around €500–700/m², mid-range from €800–1,200/m², and high-end projects from €1,500/m² upwards. We provide a detailed, itemised quote before any work begins.
Do I need planning permission for renovation work in Portugal?
It depends on the nature of the work. Cosmetic interior renovation typically does not require permission. Structural changes, extensions and changes to the external appearance usually do require a licence from the local Câmara Municipal. We can advise on this for your specific project and help manage the application process where needed.
Can you manage the project if I am based in the UK?
Yes. Many of our clients are expats or overseas property owners who cannot be on-site throughout the build. We provide regular updates, photos and video walkthroughs, and act as your full representative on the ground. You will have a direct line to us throughout.
How long does a house renovation take in the Algarve?
A bathroom or kitchen renovation typically takes two to four weeks. A full house renovation usually runs three to nine months depending on scope. We build a detailed programme at the start and keep you informed of any changes, honestly rather than optimistically.
Do you work across the whole Algarve?
We are based in Portimão and work across the Algarve region, including Lagos, Albufeira, Silves, Carvoeiro, Lagoa and the surrounding areas. Get in touch to discuss your location and we will let you know straight away if it works for us.
