We have been building extensions across the Algarve for years. We work on all types of extension and new build projects across the Algarve. Here are the most common.

Extending into the garden to add a larger kitchen, living space or dining room. We design the opening to maximise natural light and connection to the outdoor area.
Side Extensions
Making use of the space beside a property to add a utility room, garage, extra bedroom or ground floor bathroom. Often the simplest way to gain meaningful square footage.
Additional Storeys
Adding a second storey or a rooftop terrace to an existing single-storey property. Requires careful structural assessment and planning input — both of which we manage.
Garage Conversions
Converting an existing garage into habitable space. A cost-effective way to gain a bedroom, office or studio without extending the footprint of the building.

Covered outdoor living spaces, pool houses and terraces built to take full advantage of the Algarve climate. Designed to last in direct sun, salt air and coastal conditions.

We manage the full build, keep you updated throughout and sign off only when the work is complete to our own standards.

Home extensions in the Algarve: your questions answered
Do I need planning permission for a home extension in Portugal?
In most cases, yes. Any extension that increases the footprint or volume of a property typically requires a building licence from the local Camara Municipal. The process and timescales vary by municipality. We advise on this for every project and can manage the application on your behalf.
How much does a home extension cost in the Algarve?
Extension costs depend on the size, complexity and specification of the project. As a rough guide, budget from around €1,200 to €2,000 per square metre for a well-built extension with good finishes. New build construction typically starts from €1,500/m² upwards. We provide a detailed, itemised quote before any work begins.
How long does a home extension take to build?
A straightforward single-storey rear extension typically takes two to four months from groundbreaking to completion. Larger or more complex projects will take longer. Planning approval, if required, adds time before the build starts. We will give you a realistic programme at the outset.
Can you build on sloped or terraced land?
Yes. Much of the Algarve is hilly and we have extensive experience building on sloped plots, which require careful foundation design, retaining walls and drainage. We assess all of this during the survey stage before providing a quote.
Can you manage the project if I am not based in Portugal?
Yes. Many of our clients are overseas property owners. We act as your representative on the ground, providing regular updates and photographs throughout the build. You will have a direct line to us at all times.
Do you work with architects, or can you manage the design too?
Both. If you already have an architect, we work closely with them. If not, we can recommend architects we have worked with across the Algarve and coordinate the design and build process from the start.
